Planetary Geography
The planet was, before the Revolution, divided into seven kingdoms. To avoid dividing ethnic groups, world leaders on Tilhon have reconsituted the kingdoms into country-states, answering to the central democratic authority. Nonetheless, land borders remain the same. The information below introduces each of the states, referencing their history as kingdoms for a more complete picture of the demographics.
The Northern Alliance
The Northern Alliance was a group of three kingdoms which included: the Kingdom of Devi, the Kingdom of Govinda, and the Kingdom of Damodara; now Devi, Govinda, and Damodara, respectively.
Northern Alliance kingdoms tended to vote as one bloc in the House of Electors, although there were certainly deviations from this trend. When voting, these kingdoms tended to represent a more conservative viewpoint in the Legislature, seeking legislation which kept the Fielding League in power. Members representing the Northern Alliance in the Lower House of Parliament were also strongly royalist during the Revolution.
- Kingdom of Devi
- The largest of all the kingdoms, this area was consolidated from three of the original kingdoms. As the most populace kingdom, it had produced a good deal of world leaders, and also lead Tilhon in the number of Fielding League clerics.
As a conservative stronghold, Devi was highly influencial in many Fielding League matters, but also in ensuring the influence of the monarchy for as long as it lasted. - Kingdom of Govinda
- Govinda is considered the most beautiful of the kingdoms, with its sprawling mountain ranges. With both temperate and colder northern climates, Govinda represents a broad range of geographic locations and populations.
Politically and socially the more central of the three NorAll kingdoms, this location was home to Emperor Vikram III, the last emperor before the Great Revolution. - Kingdom of Damodara
- Highly conservative but sparsely populated, Damodara is home to the Fielding League's Great City. The landscape of Damodara is dotted with magnificent cathedrals of power, where pilgrims venture to hone their Fielding skills and commune with the energy forces of Tilhon. More than anything else, Damodara is a land of reflection, repleat with mild geographic features (rolling hills and plains), and tempermental weather (often rainy and cool).
Very few world leaders have emerged from Damodara, mostly due to the lack of population.
Manaria United
The Manaria United included two kingdoms before the revolution: the Kingdom of Manar, and the Kingdom of Rania; now Manar and Rania respectively.
The Manaria United's two kingdoms were exceedingly close for centuries, with their royal families intermarrying extensively.
Socially, the Manaria United kingdoms tended to represent technologically inclined viewpoints, seeking legislation which aided in the development of forward-looking prospects on the oceans and in space. The Manaria United kingdoms also tended to favor legislation which allows for free trade and commerce. Members representing the Manaria United in the Lower House of Parliament were fairly anti-royalist.
- Kingdom of Manar
- Manar was the technological haven of Tilhon, with a highly affluent population benefiting enormously from computerization and automation of services. The earliest warp engines were developed in Manar, as were the main components for Tilhon's first space station.
Education was also a critical element of the Manar kingdom, with the highest number of literate adolescents on Tilhon. - Kingdom of Rania
- Glamorous and exciting, the Kingdom of Rania was generally seen as the most liberal of the kingdoms, and was home to much "pop culture" on Tilhon. The Fielding League had the weakest hold here, with the fewest number of installations in this kingdom.
Like Manar, education and forward thinking were important in Rania, and higher learning facilities were mostly collected in this kingdom.
Kingdoms of Tanal & Bryque
The Kingdoms of Tanal and Bryque existed before the revolution and shared one continent on Tilhon. They are now referred to as simply Tanal and Bryque.
These two kingdoms were the smallest, but held great sway in the House of Electors, as they were moderate kingdoms, which tended to vote as a bloc -- thus creating a swing vote.
- Kingdom of Tanal
- Generally defined as "normal," Tanal is a quiet "suburb" of Bryque, the tourism capital of Tilhon. Like other eastern kingdoms, Tanal had a moderately small population and endured very little political strife or excitement.
- Kingdom of Bryque
- As the resort capital of Tilhon, Bryque thrived on tourism industry. Hot springs, volcanic activity, white sanded coastlines and such provided a healthy influx of visitors seeking rest in the modern era.
With a small local population, and strong community values, Bryque had one of the highest overall qualities of life for those who lived there.
